Research Interests
I am interested in how different land use objectives and management styles influence ecosystems. My thesis is investigating the effects of recreational camping on cover mediated soil microbial activity in rangelands.
Background
After taking a Botany class during my freshman year at Beloit College, I discovered my passion for learning about nature. Engaging in the McNair Scholars Program allowed me to gain undergraduate research experience in a supportive community. Mentorship has played an important role in my development as a scientist. Therefore, I am passionate about mentoring underrepresented minority students. My dream is to work as an applied ecologist in East Africa, where I can use research to empower the next generation of environmental scientists and to encourage ecologically sound land management. My hobbies include hiking in the mountains, dancing, reading African and Caribbean literature, and writing poetry.
